Literature Text

A dark, dank room covered in stone cold walls isolating this space from the innocent light. A single man solely sits in the center of the room, a curled up nervous heap. He is such a sad man, shaking in a dark pit of unhappiness that was caused by addictive euphoric hazes. He ultimately only had himself to blame for being in such a horrid place. What he did was certainly not the answers to his problems. A loved life lost is no reason to destroy one's self. This poor man's soul was taken hold by the sinful demons known as drugs, numbing the pain into nothing. Death is the ultimate drug seducer.
A soul turned hostile, no comforting words or actions could hold back the sharp tongue that is always ready to lash out. Lungs have grown tired in screaming frenzies of a wounded heart. Tears of regret fall slowly down an aged face. Reaching toward the bottle, his arm is grabbed and pulled away from his savior. Gentle arms wrap around shaking shoulders; whether they are in rage or sadness, his face is hidden in the deep shadows. These arms are attempting to comfort and bring forth the light back in life. The shadowy, aged man struggles to get away from the light figure wishing nothing but to be alone in a cell of his own making.
The light form is a man of understanding, of love, the same exact being, trying to save himself from a life of drugs and sadness. This ashen old man's mind plays hateful tricks on him, putting himself in a cell to rot away. The effects of this addiction have given him a world where he can be alone in his sufferings. No one will ruin his isolation, not even himself. He keeps fighting to push away this happiness with the monster, known as depression, within himself to keep the pain. His happiness is pain and darkness, not the light it once was. What even is happiness? His cell keeps him sane; he does not have to deal with harsh reality. He can be himself with no judgments; he can drown in his sorrows with no consequences to others. The darkness is a disease that others can be taken into, but within this cell, this dark figure has one peace of mind, he will cause no suffering to others, only to himself, just as he wants it. Once the darkness has enveloped the mind, turning back is not an option.
A writing assignment I had to do.
